Weapons in WWI

World War I was the war where everything changed from tactics, clothing, and the most important thing in battle, weapons. Each nation built and created their own style of weaponry for different situation. The most well known, common weapon is the Gewehr 98 riffle with the bayonet. The bayonet played a huge role in close combat battles, and to intimidate the enemy. The 1914 machine gun is a very effective piece of metal. When infantry run into what is known as No Mans Land, the 1914 machine gun will mow down any soul in sight. The machine gun needed four to six soldiers to operate successfully. They would overheat very quickly, so machine gunners would have to rely on air cooling, or water cooling. The mortars was a grenade launcher. It was a very light, easy to take around, and effective launcher. Soldiers can easily carry around to a close enough position to shoot the grenade to its destination.
